BSF apprehended a smuggler with mobile phone at border

On February 23, 2022 at around 1310 hrs, an Indian smuggler along with 27 mobile phones were apprehended by the troops of Border Out Post Lodhia, 70 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier. The total value of the seized mobile phone is Rs 2,87,500/-. The smuggler was trying to smuggle all these mobile phones from India to Bangladesh.

On the basis of intelligence inputs, troops of Border Out Post Lodhia laid a special ambush in the general area of ​​village Lodhia . Ambush party noticed suspicious activities of some smugglers from Indian side. On being challenged by the BSF troops, smugglers started running away from the spot. The Ambush Party chased him and caught one of the smugglers namely Samsul Sheikh (Age – 36 years), S/o- Hafizul Sheikh, Village – Garhmohali, Post- Mahadipur, PS- English Bazaar, district- Malda (West Bengal).

During preliminary interrogation, Samsul Sheikh revealed that all these mobile phones were used by him.
Sanual Shaikh(age – 40 Years), S/o- Arshad Sheikh, was taken from Village- Kadtala, Post+PS- Kaliachak, District- Malda (West Bengal). These mobile phones after crossing the BSF duty line were handed over to
Rabiul Sheikh (Age – 35 years, S/o- Faizul Sheikh, Village – Baliyadighi Post – Sonmasjid, PS – Shivganj, Distt – Chapinwabganj (Bangladesh). For this work he would get Rs 2000/-.

The apprehended person has been handed over to the Police Station English Bazar along with seized mobile phones.

The Public Relations Officer has expressed happiness over the achievements of the jawans, in which 70 Battalion has caught an Indian smuggler with 27 mobile phones. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness shown by the jawans on duty.
