‘The BJP office bearers and leadership have been always shaping themselves by giving top priority to the progressive changes in society and keeping in sync with the times. Through massive political activities, the party keeps the workers always pro active. The party attaches much importance to building a new progressive youth leadership through election campaign, mass contact programme and intellectual discussion, etc. The party has given utmost importance on these aspects during the forthcoming election to the Rajya Sabha on March 31 . BJP State Spokesperson, Ranjib Kumar Sarma said this in a statement issued from the Atal Behari Vajpayee Bhawan of the State BJP Head Office on Saturday.
Sarma said the selection of Pabitra Margherita, who joined the political bandwagon by joining the BJP party a decade ago from the world of culture is a classic example of how the party attaches importance to building progressive and forward-looking leadership. On the same lines, Party Spokesperson Sarma said selecting former student leader Rwngwra Narzary for the second Rajya Sabha seat by our UPPL alliance partner is a pointer to the increase in strength of youth power in state politics.
Sarma further said the fielding of Pabitra Margherita and Rwngwra Narzary by the ruling BJP alliance has brought to an end the notion that ‘Rajya Sabha is a House of Seniors’.
The BJP Spokesperson in the statement said the two candidates of the ruling alliance are a true representative of progressive youth leadership of Assam. While victory of the two candidates of the NDA is certain, Spokesperson Sarma levelled Congress’s candidate, Ripun Bora as being of abject failure, weakness and frustrated. There is no newness in the Congress party. Barring the Gandhi-Vadra families and their stooges in some States, there is no person of stature and dignity in the party. Sarma further said that Congress candidate Ripun Bora has no standing and has been a patronage behind Ajmal’s formation of ‘Beard-Cap-Burqha and Lungi’ Government. Sarma further said that the Congress party which has cut off itself completely from the indigenous communities has no other option than to cling on to the Ajmal bahini, who has been posing a grave threat to Assam and Assamese as a whole.
