On 21 April, 2022, at around 2015 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Bithari, 112 Battalion, Sector Kolkata, while on routine duty saw a motorcyclist moving from Dharkanda village to Hakimpur village. When the jawan ordered the motorcyclist to stop, he fled from the spot leaving the motorcycle. During the search, two packets wrapped with brown tape were found inside the tool box of the motorcycle in which 2.534 kg of silver jewelery was recovered. The value of the seized silver jewelery is Rs 1,33,225.
BSF is engaged in gathering information that these silver jewelery is related to which smuggler. Presently the seized silver jewelery has been handed over to Customs Office Tentulia for further legal proceedings.
Narayan Chand, Commanding Officer, 112 Battalion expressed happiness over the achievement of the jawans, in which the jawans have foiled the smuggling attempts. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his jawans on duty. The officer clearly stated that nothing can hide from the eyes of his vigilant troops.
