On 1st May 2022, at 1005 hrs, on the basis of specific input, the troops of Border Out Post Ranaghat, 68 Battalion conducted a search operation and apprehended 06 Bangladeshi nationals for crossing the border illegally.
Identification of apprehended Bangladeshi nationals –
i) Apal Das (26), Distt. – Narail Bangladesh.
ii) – Vishnu Pada (29), his wife
iii) Saraswati (29), his daughter iv) Rupa Ghosh (12), Distt. – Satkhira (Bangladesh).
v) Ambika Biswas(19), her three-year-old daughter.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Appal Das was going to meet his uncle who shifted to India 25 years ago. Vishnu Pada with his wife and daughter were coming to India to see his wife’s aunt who is suffering from cancer. Ambika Vishwas told that she had settled in India 6-7 years ago. She further revealed that she came to her father’s funeral and was going back to India.
Meanwhile, BSF apprehended all and handed over Ambika Biswas and her 3-year-old daughter to Police Station Krishna Ganj and rest to Border Guard Bangladesh through flag meeting as a gesture of humanity and goodwill.
Yogendra Agrawal, Commanding Officer, 68 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to prevent illegal movement along the Indo-Bangladesh border, due to which touts are constantly being caught and punished according to the law. He also stated that some of the apprehended Bangladeshi nationals are handed over to the BGB after investigation.
