BSF apprehended 02 Bangladeshi smugglers red handed with Phensidyl bottles on Indo-Bangladesh Border

Border Security Force under South Bengal Frontier apprehended 02 Bangladeshi smugglers from their border area with 295 Phensedyl bottles which they were trying to cross from India to Bangladesh from North 24 Parganas District Area.

On 24 May 2022 at around 2030 hrs, on the basis of specific information, the troops of Border Out Post Pipli, 158 Battalion, Sector Kolkata, laid an ambush in the area mentioned on the basis of information. At around 0005 hrs, the troops noticed the suspicious movement of some miscreants, at the same time BSF troops cordened them and challenged them and apprehended two persons but the rest managed to escape taking advantage of the thick darkness. Plastic bags were recovered from the apprehended persons, out of which 295 Phensedyl bottles were recovered. The apprehended persons have been identified as 1) Mohd Amirul, 19 years, S/o Mohd Ataur, village– Harishchandrapur, P.O. Goga, PS–Sharsa, District– Jessore, Bangladesh, 2) Mohd. Noor Alam, 20 years, S/o Mohammad Yunus Ali, Village– Harishchandrapur, P.O. Goga, PS– Sharsa, District Jessore, Bangladesh.

During preliminary interrogation, the apprehended smugglers revealed that both of them are Bangladeshi nationals and are involved in smuggling activities. He revealed that they have taken these Phensedyl bottles from Sukhdev Haldar (Father – Nimai Haldar, Village – Sasadaga, Post Office – Jhodanga, PS – Gaighata, District–North 24 Parganas). This item was to be further handed over to Mohammad Rana (Father Lutfar Rahman, Village Harishchandrapur, Post Office – Goga, PS– Sarsa, District–Jessore, Bangladesh). But as they were trying to cross the border, they were apprehended by the Border Security Force. The apprehended person revealed that he had to get 5000 BD Taka for this work.

The apprehended persons have been handed over to the Gaighata Police Station along with the seized items.

Harendra Singh Tomar, Commanding Officer, 158 Battalion expressed happiness over the achievements of the jawans in thwarting smuggling attempts. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his jawans on duty. The officer clearly stated that nothing can hide from the eyes of his troops.
