BSF JAWANS FREED WILD BIRDS FROM THE CLUTCHES OF SMUGGLERS ON THE BORDER

On 5th November’ 2022, troops of Border Out Post Betai, 84 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, at 0150 hrs late in the night, rescued 128 wild birds from the clutches of smugglers, which were being brought in iron cages from Bangladesh to India by the smugglers. In the night, the troops on duty observed that some smugglers from Bangladesh side were throwing some goods over the fence. Simultaneously, the troops chased them but the smugglers fled by taking the advantage of thick darkness and bushes. When the troops reached to the spot and saw, there were a total of 128 parrots of green, yellow and white colors kept in the cages.

In another incident, on 05th November’ 2022 at 0300 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Rangiapota, 82 Battalion seized 93 lovebirds (small parrots) from their area of ​​responsibility. Smugglers were trying to take these wild birds from India to Bangladesh.

The confiscated wild birds have been handed over to the forest department Murshidabad and Krishnanagar respectively.

Spokesperson of South Bengal Frontier stated that our jawans are taking strict steps to stop any kind of smuggling on the Border. He further stated in clear words that we will not allow smuggling from our area under any circumstances.
