On 03rd November, 2022 at around 1140 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Bithari, 112 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, acting on the basis of reliable information, apprehended a smuggler with 39 Phensedyl bottles. The smuggler was identified as Ripon Sardar, District North 24 Parganas.
During interrogation, the smuggler revealed that he had received these Phensedyl from Iqbal Ghazi and Rasek Mistry, District North 24 Parganas and was to be handed over to Ghaffar, Village Padmavila, North 24 Parganas.
At the same time, in other incidents on the Border, on 03rd October, 2022, the jawans of the Border Out Post Tentulberia 158 Battalion seized a total of 50 bottles of Phensedyl and 10 kg of dry Ganja from the area of their responsibility. Apart from this, troops of Border Out Post Rajnagar, 117 Battalion and Border Out Post Nawada, 70 Battalion seized 135 bottles and 50 bottles of Phensedyl respectively. The estimated value of all the 274 seized Phensedyl bottles seized is 56,256/- rupees.
The apprehended smuggler and confiscated goods were handed over to Police Stations Swarupnagar, Gaighata, Raninagar and Custom Office Kaliachak respectively for further legal action.
Spokesperson of South Bengal Frontier stated that BSF troops are ready in their area and are trying to stop crimes like smuggling. Apart from this, our intelligence department also thwarts such tasks before they are carried out, the official stated.
