On 22nd January, 2023, at 1530 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Tarali, 112 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, apprehended a smuggler with 08 gold biscuits while returning from his farm on bicycle. The weight of the seized gold biscuits is 933 grams and the estimated value of the gold is 54,60,662/- rupees. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Bablu Molla, District North 24 Parganas.
During interrogation, the smuggler revealed that he has been indulged in this type of smuggling for a long time. He further revealed that this gold was hidden in his bicycle by his neighbour Mohsin Ghazi. After this, this gold was to be handed over to Mohsin Ghazi after crossing the BSF’s domination line. But BSF jawans already apprehended him during checking.
BSF took big action for the second consecutive day
Recently on 21st January, in the Saturday evening, in the area of district Malda, troops of Border Out Post Kathakali, 115 Battalion had seized gold worth more than 26 lakhs from their area of responsibility.
The apprehended smuggler and the seized gold were handed over to the Custom Office, Tentulia for further legal action.
The Commanding Officer of 112 Battalion stated that BSF is constantly trying to stop smuggling on the Border and it has also got success in this work. Due to which people indulged in crimes like smuggling are being apprehended continuously.
