BSF Apprehends Bangladeshi Smuggler with Rare Pigeons and Phensedyl Bottles on Indo-Bangladesh Border

On the midnight of 16 Feb’ 2023, alert troops of Border Outpost Mahendra, 08 Battalion, under the South Bengal Frontier, apprehended a Bangladeshi smuggler with 11 pigeons of a rare species called Hungarian Giant House and 47 bottles of Phensedyl being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.The special operation was carried out based on reliable information.

During preliminary questioning, the smuggler identified himself as Sher Ali, aged 19, son of Late Amir Hussain, from Jiban Nagar in the Chuwadanga district of Bangladesh. He also revealed that he often collaborates with Indian smugglers.

The apprehended smuggler, along with the seized items, has been handed over to the local police station in Hanskhali.

The commanding officer of 08 Battalion emphasized that the jawans of the Border Security Force (BSF) always remain vigilant on the border, leading to continuous apprehension of individuals involved in crimes such as smuggling. He added that the BSF will continue to work towards preserving the environment and protecting endangered species from such criminal activities.
