BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier arrested two Bangladeshi infiltrators in their area of responsibility on the Indo-Bangladesh international border. Both intruders were attempting to enter India from the Bangladesh side. The incident took place on the night of February 27th, 2023, around 9:30 PM, in the area of Border Out Post Charkutbari, 117 Battalion under Sector HQrs Berhampur of BSF. The jawans on duty suspected suspicious activity on the border, cordoned off the area, and nabbed two Bangladeshi infiltrators. The apprehended Bangladeshi infiltrators have been identified as Mohd Sifat Ali (24) and Mohd Sariful (26) from District Rajshahi, Bangladesh.
During interrogation by BSF, the Bangladeshi infiltrators revealed that they were assisted in crossing the border by Halim, S/o Islam Ali Godagiri from District Rajshahi. They further revealed that after coming to India, they intended to go to Chennai for work.
Both apprehended Bangladeshi infiltrators were handed over to Thana Ranitala for further legal action.
The Commanding Officer of the 117th Battalion expressed satisfaction over the success of BSF’s jawans, stating that it was a reflection of the vigilance displayed by BSF jawans on duty. He urged people not to engage in smuggling under any circumstances and strongly emphasized that BSF jawans would not allow smuggling or any other type of crime to occur on the border and would not spare those involved in it.
