An incident occurred on March 13, 2023, at 2 am, in the house of Ganesh Das, a resident of Tilasan village in the Anuradhapura area, 44 Battalion, under the South Bengal Frontier. The jawan on duty noticed a massive fire in a nearby villager’s house and immediately informed the post commander. The post commander, along with the jawans, rushed to the location and worked hard to extinguish the fire, which was finally brought under control after an hour.
During the ordeal, Ganesh’s family and their animals were trapped inside the house, but the troops successfully rescued them. Unfortunately, Ganesh and other members of the household suffered minor burns, and they were immediately transported to Bulbulchandi Hospital via a BSF ambulance, along with a nursing assistant.
The Commanding Officer of the 44 Battalion stated that the BSF troops are always available to assist those residing on the border. The villagers and village head expressed their gratitude towards the BSF jawans for their prompt response and assistance.
