Senior IPS officer Ayush Mani Tiwari takes over as Inspector General of BSF South Bengal Frontier

Ayush Mani Tiwari, a senior IPS officer of 1997 batch from Tamil Nadu cadre having the image of a conscientious and honest officer, has assumed charge of new Inspector General of BSF South Bengal Frontier. Tiwari took over the baton from the outgoing IG Dr Atul Fulzele, IPS on Tuesday. Dr Fulzele has been transferred to BSF Punjab Frontier where he will assume the charge of IG Punjab Frontier.

Tiwari’s impressive track record in the BSF spans from July 2020 to March 2023. During this period, he served as the Inspector General of Rajasthan Frontier and held significant positions at FHQ BSF New Delhi.

Tiwari is known for his professionalism, honesty, and has been bestowed with many honors, including the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

Tiwari has been an alumnus of University of Allahabad, holds an MBA from Anand (IRMA), Gujarat, and a Masters degree in police management from Osmania University. He has served as Superintendent of Police in many communally and caste-sensitive districts of Tamil Nadu, including Tuticorin, Madurai, Thiruvallur, and Namakkal. He has also served as DCP in Chennai City, DIG of Coimbatore Range, and IGP of the Armed Police in Tamil Nadu. In 2007, Ayush Mani Tiwari came on central deputation to the Narcotics Control Bureau and headed the Gujarat Bureau along the border with Pakistan. Prior to joining BSF, he served as DDG in Bureau of Civil Aviation for three years.

After taking charge, Tiwari met with the BSF officers and got briefing of the functioning of the Frontier. He stated that he will continue the effective border domination to thwart any nefarious activities and will implement jawan-oriented welfare plans. During the tenure of IG Dr Atul Fulzele, IPS smuggling on the Indo-Bangladesh border remained under control, and many welfare plans were implemented for the families of the BSF.

Tiwari stated that he will give priority to curb smuggling, infiltration, and other trans-border crimes. The BSF South Bengal Frontier is confident that under the leadership of IG Ayush Mani Tiwari, the graph of smuggling will remain at a low level and the safety of the borders can be ensured besides focus on improving the coordination between the people living on the border and BSF troops.
