BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier foiled the plans of smugglers and seized 966 bottles of Phensedyl from the areas under their responsibility along the Indo-Bangladesh border. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs.1,98,329/-.
The first incident took place on 14 March 2023 at 0040 hrs in the area of Border Out Post M S Pur, 70 Battalion of BSF. Acting on intelligence, when the jawans on duty sensed some suspicious activity, they immediately cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. During the search, the smugglers present in the area fled taking advantage of the thick darkness, and the jawans recovered 522 bottles of Phensedyl from the spot.
In other incidents, jawans of Border Out Post Nawada, 70 Battalion, Border Out Post Govindpara, 54 Battalion, Border Out Post Harudanga, 117 Battalion, and Border Out Post Lavangola, 35 Battalion, seized a total of 444 bottles of Phensedyl from the areas under their responsibility.
The seized goods were handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal action.
Expressing satisfaction over the success of the jawans, the spokesperson of the South Bengal Frontier appreciated them a lot. He stated that this is only a reflection of the vigilance displayed by the BSF jawans on duty. He urged the people not to adopt the route of smuggling under any circumstances. He also stated, in strong words, that BSF jawans will not allow smuggling or any other type of crime to take place on the border and will not spare the persons involved in it.
