Shambhu Nath Singh assumes the office of Vice Chancellor, Tezpur University

Shambhu Nath Singh, former Vice Chancellor, Patna University & former founding Director, School of Journalism and New Media Studies, IGNOU on Tuesday (04-04-2023) assumed the office of Vice Chancellor, Tezpur University.

The appointment was made by President of India Droupadi Murmu who is the visitor of the University Shambhu Nath Singh has taken charge at Tezpur University for a term of five years.

After assuming the charge of the office Singh today met the Deans, Heads of the Departments, and senior officials of the University at the Council Hall and took stock of the University.

“I am honored to assume the office of Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University, a premier institution of higher learning in Northeast India,” said  Singh. “I am committed to building upon the university’s strengths and achievements and leading it to greater heights of excellence in teaching, research, and innovation. I look forward to working closely with the faculty, staff, and students of Tezpur University and the wider community to achieve our shared goals.”

A noted journalist, academician and researcher, Singh has been a visiting professor to the Indian Institute of Mass Communication New Delhi, International Media Institute Gurgaon. He is also the visitor’s nominee to Dr Hari Singh Gaur University Sagar MP, Maulana Azad National Urdu University Hyderabad, Central University of Rajasthan & Central University of Jharkhand. On the international level, Prof. Singh represented the country in the prestigious ‘International Leadership Visitor Programme –US in 2007 which was sponsored by United States Department of State.

 

Shambhu Nath Singh contribution to the media profession extends to about two decades. He had worked in various senior editorial capacities in the media. He was also Editorial Trainer to ‘Dainik Jagaran Group of news papers, Media Consultant to Secretariat for Commemoration of 50th Anniversary of India’s Independence, Department of Culture, HRD Ministry (now rechristened as Ministry of Education) and Co-Editor to “Communication 2000 AD”, Silver Jubilee Smarak Granth, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Ministry of I & B.
