There were many people from Nagaland stranded in Manipur amidst the undergoing tense situation in Manipur. To evacuate these people safely, Assam Rifles under the aiegis of Spear Corps undertook ‘OPERATION KOHIMA CALLING’ in two phases.
In 1st phase 676 individuals and during 2nd phase 553 individuals were evacuated.
2nd phase included, 47 Konyak Girls from Yoripok.
Rescue team went to the interiors of Thoubal District to extricate these girls. They were all working on hourly wages basis in a Veneer factory.
