BSF troops seized 1042 bottles of Phensedyl, 10 kg of Ganja and 99 leaves of Tapentadol medicine in different incidents from their area of responsibility along the Indo-Bangladesh border under South Bengal Frontier, which were smugglers trying to take from India to Bangladesh. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl and medicine is Rs. 2,58,924/-.
On May 14, 2023, jawans of Border Outpost Tentulberia, Adhoc SB-lll Battalion, while on duty on the border saw 3-4 smugglers near the border fence. The jawans started cordoning off the smugglers by laying an ambush. Seeing the troops coming towards them, the smugglers took advantage of the darkness and ran away. During the intensive search of the area, the jawans seized 372 bottles of Phensedyl from the spot.
In other incidents on the same day, troops of Border Outposts Dobarpara, Adhoc SB-lll Battalion, Madhupur, 82 Battalion, Halderpara, 54 Battalion, Rani Nagar and B R C Pur, 86 Battalion, Khasmahal, 141 Battalion and Lodhia, 70 Battalion seized 670 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of ​​responsibility.
The seized goods were handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal action.
A spokesman of BSF, South Bengal Frontier expressed happiness over the achievement of the jawans and stated that the Border Security Force always maintains vigilance and adopts various operational measures to prevent smuggling along the border. He also stated that BSF has an excellent team to provide information related to smuggling, which keeps a close watch on the criminal activities happening in the border area.
