BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier seized 308 bottles of Phensedyl and 08 kg of Ganja from different places in their area of responsibility in Indo-Bangladesh International Border area. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs.65,042/-. Smugglers were trying to cross this consignment from India to Bangladesh.
The first incident occurred on May 21, 2023 in the area of the border post Dhakotia, 82 Battalion. Acting on the information of the Intelligence Department, as soon as the jawans on duty suspected some suspicious activities in their area, they immediately started surrounding the smugglers along with the patrol team. Seeing the troops coming towards them, the smugglers took advantage of the darkness and ran away. After conducting a thorough search of the area, the jawans seized 159 bottles of Phensedyl from the spot.
In other incidents on the same day, jawans of Border Outposts Mihir and Amudia, 112 Battalion, Dobila, 153 Battalion and Ashridah, 35 Battalion seized 149 bottles of Phensedyl and 08 kg of Ganja from their area of responsibility.
All the seized material has been handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal action.
A spokesperson of BSF, South Bengal Frontier has expressed happiness over this success of the jawans. He stated that this was only a reflection of the vigilance displayed by BSF jawans on duty. He has urged the people not to adopt the route of smuggling under any circumstances. He stated in strong words that BSF jawans will not allow smuggling or any other type of crime to take place on the border and will not spare the persons involved in it.
