Botanical society of RGU and NSS team of Royal Global University organised an awareness program on Reducing carbon footprint in Boragaon LP School Guwahati, where they also organized a plantation drive. The National Service Scheme (NSS) which has been actively engaging in various social service activities, and one such noteworthy endeavor was a cleanliness drive earlier conducted by NSS-RGU at ISBT, Guwahati, in collaboration with Department of Environmental Science.
Royalites demonstrated the power of collective action and community involvement in promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental conservation. Through active participation and collaboration, the drive succeeded in creating awareness, improving cleanliness levels, and fostering a sense of responsibility.
Royal School of Life Sciences, on the other hand, organized a talk on “Biodiversity Conservation: Prospects and Challenges with emphasis on Biological Diversity Act, 2022” by Dr. Oinam Sunanda Devi, Scientific Officer, Assam State Biodiversity Board, Govt. of Assam. The speaker emphasized on the need for protecting indigenous natural resources both from environmental and economic point of view. Along with throwing light on various opportunities that the students of RGU can potentially avail such as internships and workshops that are organized by Assam State Biodiversity Board.
Department of Physics, along with Royal School of Environmental and Earth Sciences, in association with IIC-RGU and Student Welfare, RGU, celebrated World Environment Day by organizing different lectures and competitions. Rituraj Dewan, Co-founder, 7WEAVES, Guwahati, focused on the menace of plastic waste and their probable solution. The other resource person, Deepjyoti Borah, Advisor & Consultant, Climate Change & Sustainability, covered different aspects of carbon trading, carbon footprint, etc. Further, a Poster Composition was organized among the students based on the theme ‘Save Earth Through Social Awareness and Technology Innovation’.
