President of India Droupadi Murmu presents Padma Shri in the field of Art to famous Rabindra Sangeet Singer from Bangladesh Rezwana Choudhury Bannya on April 22, 2024.
Bannya was born in 1957 in Rangpur and studied music at Visva-Bharati University in India, where she was mentored by notable musicians including Santidev Ghosh,Ashish Bandyopadhyay and Kanika Bandyopadhyay.
For her contributions in music, she received ‘Swadhinata Padak’, the highest civilian award of Bangladesh in 2016
In 2017 Government of West Bengal awarded her the prestigious Banga Bhusan Awards.
