ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTS WREATH LAYING CEREMONY FOR BRAVEHEART AT MANTRIPUKHRI

Assam Rifles under the aegis Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) organised a wreath laying ceremony for NK/GD (Late) Karna Bahadur Rai, KC, Lnk (GD) Sal Bahadur Tamang, Lnk (GD) Beg Bahadur Chhetri, Lnk (GD) Bir Bahadur Tamang and G/ Lnk (GD) Tek Bahadur Chhetri of 4 Assam Rifles who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.

They demonstrated remarkable bravery and dedication during various Operations:-

On 08 May 1962, an area domination patrol comprising of one Offr, one JCO and 20 OR was launched at Imphal, Manipur. The party came under heavy volume of fire by NSCN (IM) cadres at 1000 hours on 08 May 1962. The party showed raw courage and immediately carried out counter-fire drill bringing effective fire and killed two NSCN (IM) cadres. No. NK/GD (Late) Karna Bahadur Rai, KC sustained gunshot wounds and succumbed to injuries, thereby laying down his life as supreme sacrifice for the Nation.

On 08 May 1962, a special convoy consisting of 01 Officer, 01 Junior Commissioned Officer and 21 Other Ranks were moving to Battalion Headquarter Assam Rifles (Tuensang, Nagaland). Three vehicles of the convoy came under heavy volume of fire from unknown insurgent group at Mokokchung-Tuensang Road. In the ensuing fire fight, Lnk (GD) Sal Bahadur Tamang, Lnk (GD) Beg Bahadur Chhetri and Lnk(GD) Bir Bahadur Tamang sustained gunshot wounds and succumbed to injuries.

On 08 May 1962, convoy protection party consisting of 01 Officer, 01 Junior Commissioned Officer and 15 Other Ranks came under ambush at Imphal-Ukhrul Road. The Quick Reaction Team responded with counter ambush drill and neutralized the insurgents. In the ensuing heavy exchange of fire, Lnk (GD) Tek Bahadur Chhetri sustained gunshot wounds and succumbed to injuries, thereby sacrificing himself for the Nation.

Assam Rifles honoured its brave hearts by paying homage at War Memorial with the ceremony commencing with the wreath laying followed by a motivational speech to all ranks narrating the motivational story of the brave hearts.

ASSAM RIFLES PROVIDES RELIEF MATERIALS AND NECESSARY RATION IN STORM AFFECTED AREAS OF KAKCHING, CHANDEL AND THOUBAL DISTRICTSOF MANIPUR

Assam Rifles provided relief materials and essential ration to the people in distress at Waikhong, Kakching, Phundrei, Serou, Sugnu, Pangaltabi villages of Manipur.

The state of Manipur was hit by a massive storm and rains on 05 May 2024. Hundreds of houses were partially or fully damaged in the storm. Thousands of people were affected and many valuable assets were destroyed. The Assam Rifles deployed in the area, rose upto the situation and rushed to provide aid to the local populace.

Village authorities appreciated this gesture and expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards Assam Rifles for their unwavering dedication to the society.
