ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISES SECURITY MEETING FOSTERING PEACE IN MANIPUR

Assam Rifles organised a joint security meeting with village headmen at Saheibung village Kangpokpi district.

The meet witnessed the participation of village chiefs and secretaries of nearby villages including N Boljang, Khoken, Janglenphai, Sinam Khaitong, New Keithelmanbi and Haibung.

The gathering provided an active forum to all the concerned to put forth their grievances and issues faced by them. The importance of involving youth in sports, education, and other constructive initiatives was thoroughly deliberated and positively received by those present.

The members were also briefed on the current security landscape in the area and were encouraged to work towards fostering peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

This interaction deepened the connection between the local community and the Assam Rifles, nurturing cooperation towards social advancement, peace, and community prosperity, ultimately contributing to the maintenance of tranquility and harmony in the region.

ASSAM RIFLES HONOURS BRAVEHEARTS AT SHANGSHAK VILLAGE, UKHRUL DISTRICT, MANIPUR

Assam Rifles on 25 May 2024, organised a wreath laying ceremony at Shangshak village in Ukhrul District of Manipur to honour the two BRAVEHEARTS who had laid down their lives in service of the Nation on 25 May 2019.

On 25 May 2019, a column from Tobu Company Operating Base was detailed in Op Sunrise II. The column was ambushed by hardcore insurgents in general area Ukha ridge of Mon district in Nagaland. Own column retaliated and during the ensuing firefight, Nb Sub (Late) Dina Nath Ram and Rfn/GD (Late) Kalidas Sharma sustained severe injuries and later succumbed to their injuries, thereby making the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

The solemn ceremony included wreath laying and a minute of silence to remember their brave deeds. The Battalion also reached out to family members of the Breavehearts on this solemn occasion and enquired about their well being. A representative from the unit visited the family members of the bravehearts and they were also presented with a small token of remembrance.

ASSAM RIFLES CONDUCTED A MOTIVATIONAL LECTURE FOR DEFENCE ASPIRANTS IN CHURACHANDPUR DISTRICT

Assam Rifles have always been an integral part of life of North East people and the organization has been in the forefront in stimulating enthusiasm amongst local youth to join the Armed forces through its multifaceted activities and undertakings. On 14 May 2024, the security force organised a motivational lecture and group discussion for young defence aspirants on 24 May 2024 at Churachandpur District, Manipur.

The program was aimed to motivate young aspirants who dream to become Indian Armed Forces officers through upcoming National Defence Academy exam in month of September 2024. The determined and ambitious youth are part of an upcoming defence academy in hill district of Churachandpur (Manipur) whose student base comes from the remote of areas of the district. Hailing from humble backgrounds and affected from the ongoing conflict in Manipur, the youth have kept the hopes of a brighter future alive within themselves.

The program included a lecture on the working environment of Armed Forces and exciting lifestyle which it provides. A question and answer session followed by interactive group discussion was carried out to assist in their preparation for the upcoming NDA exams.

ASSAM RIFLES EXTENDS SUPPORT TO HAILSTORM VICTIMS OF MANIPUR

Assam Rifles organized a relief distribution event at Langthabal, Imphal West District, Manipur on 25 May 24. The local families of Langthabal Kunja, Langthabal Mantrikhong and Chajing, Imphal West Manipur approached Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) for the assistance and essential aid for the residents whose houses were impacted due to recent hailstorms.

In a bid to alleviate the suffering caused by the hailstorms, Assam Rifles organized a distribution drive to provide essential relief materials to the victims.

During the event tarpaulins, mattresses, pillows, ceiling fans and other basic necessities were distributed to the affected families. Approximately, 60 families received assistance through this relief endeavor.

Assam Rifles also conducted free Medical camps and distributed medicines to the affected families. Approximately 120 families got benefited by the event. The recipients expressed deep gratitude for the timely assistance, which will provide them with much-needed shelter and security during this challenging time.

Assam Rifles has been actively engaged in providing aid and assistance to the affected communities in Manipur. These efforts are a testament to their commitment to the well-being of the region’s people, particularly during times of crisis.
