On 30 June 2024, alert troops of 193 Battalion BSF Meghalaya apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals: Mohibur Rehman (30 years), Kudus Miah (25 years), residents of Sunamganj district, and Mubarak Hossain (16 years), a resident of Sylhet district, from Bangladesh inside Indian territory in the East Khasi Hills district.
Acting on specific information, a BSF party stationed at Dangar Tri Junction stopped the Maruti Alto car and on suspicion apprehended two Indian touts and three Bangladeshi nationals. On preliminary questioning, the apprehended Bangladeshi nationals claimed that, they illegally entered into Indian territory with intention to go to Kashmir in search of jobs.
The apprehended persons are being handed over to PS Dangar, East Khasi Hills, for further legal formalities.
