On 12 March, 2022 BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier apprehended an Indian national with 400 Phensedyl bottles from their area of ​​responsibility. The smugglers were trying to cross the border from the Border Out Post Bithari, 112 Battalion, North 24 Parganas district area.
On 12 March, 2022 at around 1436 hrs, jawans of Border Out Post Bithari, 112 Battalion, Sector Kolkata, during duty checking noticed two motorcycles coming from Swaroopada towards Hakimpur. There were two miscreants on a motorcycle, who were carrying a large plastic bag. Another motorcyclist was helping them in the act of smuggle. The BSF stopped the motorcycle to search the rider. Seeing the BSF troops, the motorcyclist fled. But the second bike rider was apprehended by the BSF who has been identified as Rahmat Dalal, S/o Anichchar Dalal, village Hakimpur, PS-Swaroop Nagar, District- North 24 Parganas. In this whole incident, a plastic bag was recovered from which 400 bottles of Phensedyl were recovered.
BSF sources have revealed that the two men who fled have been identified as i) Firoz Sardar, S/o– Jihad Sardar, Village – Hakimpur, Thana – Swaroop Nagar, North 24 Parganas, ii) Noor Islam Sardar, S/o Naseeruddin Sardar, Village- Swarupada, PS– Swaroop Nagar, District – North 24 Parganas.
During initial interrogation, the smuggler revealed that he is an Indian national and does petty smuggling work for his survival. The apprehended micreant revealed that he had taken these Phensedyl from Ashraful Sahji (S/o-Mazed Sahji, Village Hakimpur, PS-Swaroop Nagar, District North 24 Parganas) in Swaroopnagar village. After crossing the duty line of BSF all phensedyl bottles were to be handed over to Ashraful.
The apprehended person has been handed over to Customs Office Tetulia along with the seized items.
Shri Chandrashekhar, Officiating Commanding Officer, 112 Battalion expressed happiness over the achievement of jawans for apprehending an Indian smuggler with 400 Phensedyl bottles. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by the jawans on duty.
