BSF FOILED SMUGGLING ATTEMPTS AND APPREHENDED 02 SMUGGLERS RED HANDED WITH SILVERR AND PHENSEDYL

On March 31, 2022, in two separate incidents, the Border Security Force troops under the South Bengal Frontier, proving their commitment to duty, once again thwarted the plans of smugglers and apprehended 02 smugglers with 2.155 kg of silver jewelery and 20 bottles of Phensedyl. The estimated value of the seized silver and Phensedyl is Rs 1,87,334/-. The smugglers were trying to take these silver ornaments and Phensedyl from India to Bangladesh.

Smugglers are using border villagers and elderly people on the International Border

In the first incident, on March 31, 2022, the troops of Border Out Post Bithari, 112 Battalion, Sector Kolkata, apprehended a farmer after seeing the suspicious movement of his in the investigation of farmers going to work in agriculture in front of the Domination Line of BSF. 02 packets were recovered from inside the clothes (lungi) of the smuggler. 2.155 kg of silver ornaments was recovered from inside. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Abdul Rehman Dafadar, age – 74 years, Village – Dharkanda, Post Office – Hakimpur, Police Station – Swaroopnagar, District – North 24 Parganas, West Bengal.

During interrogation, the apprehended smuggler Abdul Rehman Dafadar revealed that he has been working as a smuggler carrier regularly for the last few days. On this morning (March 31), he had taken both these packets from a smuggler named Asghar Ghazi (Village-Dharkanda, PS- Swaroopnagar). After crossing the BSF duty line, which was to be handed back to Asghar Ghazi only. For this he was to get Rs.400/-.

Failed smuggling attempt by hiding Phensedyl by making an improvised cavity in E Rickshaw (Toto)

In another incident on 31st March, 2022, based on specific information, the troops of Border Out Post Tarali 112 battalion, Sector Kolkata apprehended a suspected E Rickshaw (Toto) driver at around 2130 hrs. When the troops searched the e-rickshaw (Toto), 20 bottles of Phensedyl were found from inside the improvised cavity made under its driver’s seat. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Hilaluddin Dafadar, age – 21 years, Village – Tarali (Majherpar), Post Office – Hakimpur, Police Station – Swaroopnagar, District – North 24 Parganas, West Bengal.

The smuggler Hilaluddin Dafadar revealed that he has been doing smuggling work regularly for the last few days. This morning (March 31) near Balti Ball Field Nityanand Kathi, Ikramul Sardar (Village- Tarali (Majherpar), Post Office- Hakimpur, Thana- Swaroopnagar) had taken phensedyl. After crossing the BSF duty line which was to be handed back to Ikramool Sardar in Tarali village. For this smuggling he was to get Rs.300/-.

Both the apprehended smugglers and the seized items have been handed over to the concerned office for further legal proceedings.

Narayan Chand, Commanding Officer, 112 Battalion expressed happiness over the achievements of the jawans in thwarting smuggling attempts. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his jawans on duty. The officer clearly added that nothing can hide from the eyes of his troops. He also stated that he also has an excellent team to give accurate information related to smuggling.
