BSF APPREHENDED FEMALE SMUGGLER WITH FISH EGG ON INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER

On 04 April, 2022, at around 0530 hrs, the troops of Border Out Post Chararkhali, 118 Battalion observed the movement of some people, they were trying to go towards Ichhamati river (International Boundary) hiding from the eyes of BSF. The jawans on duty chased and apprehended one of them. After a thorough search of the area, 12 bags of fish eggs were recovered.

The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Kamla Mandal, Age – 52 years, Village – Chararkhali, Thana – Hingalganj, District – North 24 Parganas. During questioning she revealed that she along with her two sons namely Biswajit Mandal (26 years) and Prasannajit Mandal (24 years) are working as a smuggling carriers for a long time. Today morning (April 04) all these fish egg were received from a smuggler Subarto Burman and trying to hand over to a Bangladeshi smuggler Mohnish Ghazi near Ichmati river (International Boundary) with her son Biswajit Mandal but as soon as they reached near Ichamati river, BSF apprehended her with the fish egg.

The apprehended female smuggler and the seized fish egg have been handed over to Hingalganj Customs Office for further legal action.

Shri Rajesh Kumar Tripathi, Commanding Officer, 118 battalion expressed happiness over the achievements of its jawans, in which the jawans have apprehended 01 female smuggler with 12 bags of fish eggs. The official added that they will not allow any kind of smuggling in their area.
