All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi appointed Bhupen Borah new Assam Congress president on Saturday.
After the party’s poor performance in the 2021Assam Assembly elections, former AICC president Ripun Bora resign from his post.
The AICC president has also appointed three new working presidents of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee. North Karimganj MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, former Jorhat MLA Rana Goswami and Sarukhetri MLA Jakir Hussain Sikdar as new APCC vice-presidents.
Borah also served as the president of the Assam Pradesh Youth Congress.
