Only three month ago a new party was formed in Darjeeling. Hamro Party was formed in November 2021.
Hamro Party defeated BJP, TMC and Gorkha Janmukti Morcha in Darjeeling Municipal Election which was held in Sunday.
Hamro Party has won 18 out of 32 wards in Darjeeling. Founder leader of the party Ajoy Edwards lost his own ward only 5 vote. Earlier Darjeeling was with Bimal Gurung’s Gorkha Janmukti Morcha .
TMC only manage 2 seat , Bharatiya Gorkha Republican Front won 9 seat, Gorkha Janamukti Morcha won 4 seat and BJP 0 .
Darjeeling is also a strong hold of BJP. But this time mountain people of West Bengal also rejected BJP. The BJP has two MLAs and one MP in the hilly areas.
