Country is celebrating “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahatsov”—75 years of India’s Independence. This ICONIC event “Customer Outreach Programme is a part of Celebration of “ICONIC Week “under “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahatsov” which has been organized by the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Govt of India, New Delhi. Banks of Kamrup Metro District have sanctioned to 3752 loan proposals to the tune of Rs.297.79 Crores for celebrating this ICONIC EVENT against target set by District Administration for 3470 proposals to the tune of Rs.225.00 Crores. Among the sanctions made by the Banks operating in this district it is noticeable that for this EVENT itself Banks have accorded sanctions of 371 numbers in Agricultural Sector, 262 numbers of loan to Street Vendors under PMSVANidhi, 220 Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yajona(PMMY) ,113 Business Loan, 34 in other MSME Sector, 229 Housing Loan, 116 Other Retail Loan, 32 other Priority Sector Loan and 2113 Other Consumption loans . This dedicated endeavor of the Banks operating within the district is certainly help the economy of this district to grow faster, generate employments, and develops entrepreneurships whereby the today’s Job seeker will turn to tomorrow’s Job Giver. Moreover, in Social Security scheme too the Banks have scouted proposals for enrolments 1670 under PMSBY, 1515 enrolment PMJJBY and 1071 under APY for this event.
Ms. Kalpana Deka, ACS, Addl. Deupty Commissioner, Kamrup (Metro) , the Chief Guest of the function, in his/her address told that as of 31/03/2022, this district has 38.84 % of the Assam’s Bank deposit Share & 32.15% of the Assam total lending. In disbursements of the financial year 2021-22, Banks have lent Rs. 14316.00 Crores in this district which is 36.34% of Assam’s total Disbursement for the fiscal 2021-22. She appreciated Bandhan Bank who have sanctioned 4927 PMMY, UCO Bank who have sanctioned 412 NRLM-SHGs, State Bank of India who have accorded sanction to 4482 Street Vendors, EASF Small finance Bank for sanctioning 2217 numbers under Joint Liability Group (JLG), and HDFC Banks have accorded sanction of 24 numbers of Proposals under Stand up India Scheme in the fiscal 2021-22.
Ms. Kalpana Deka, ACS told that during the Last 75 years of India’s Independence bankers are playing pivotal role in nation building. The economic growth of a specific area largely depends on the Banking system, dedication of the Bankers and Banking network. On this ICONIC Day, he/she extended gratitude for the dedicated services by Bankers in this district especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic and thereafter for revamping the economy of this District.
Ms. Kalpana Deka, ACS told that Government has initiated all efforts towards “AATMANIRBHAR BHARAT”. Special emphasis has been given for skill developments. He/She told that dedicated supports are needed from all sectors including Bankers to achieve the goal.
Ms. Deka, advised the Bankers to pay more attention towards Proper selection of borrowers, Personal Judgment of the Manager & timely disposal of loan proposals that will reduce the Non Performing Portfolio of the Banks to a great extent.
