SILVER SMUGGLER CAUGHT BY BSF, 15 KG SILVER SEIZED

On July 19, 2022, at 0935 am, the troops of the Border Out Post Gede, of 54 Battalion acting on the basis of strong input, seized 15.190 kg of silver ornaments worth Rs 7.90 lakh from Sealdah-Gede train number 31911. However, the smugglers escaped on seeing BSF, one of whom was apprehended from Harishnagar village in the presence of Police.

Smuggler trapped in the greed of only 300 rupees

During interrogation, the apprehended person identified as Srishtidhar Jordar, age 45 years, S/o Aurobindhu Jordar, village Harishnagar, District Nadia, West Bengal. The smuggler further revealed that he was bringing these goods from Ranaghat. One more smugglers were with him. On seeing the BSF troops he jumped from the moving train and fled. Further he revealed that he received only 300/- RS for this work.

The apprehended smuggler had been handed over to the Customs Department, Banpur along with the seized items for further legal action.

Deshraj Singh, Commanding Officer, 54 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict steps to stop smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Due to which people involved in smuggling are facing a lot of difficulties. The officer added in strong words that the Border Security Force will not allow smuggling under any circumstances.
