BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier foiled the plans of smugglers and seized 12 Kgs of Ganja and 819 bottles of Phensedyl from different areas on India-Bangladesh border.
The incident took place on 1st February, 2023, at 0530 hrs in the area of Border Out Post Narsaripada, 141 Battalion, under Sector Baharampur. During patrolling, alert BSF jawans on duty saw some suspicious activity. To thwart the smuggling attempts, when the jawans started advancing towards the smugglers, they left the goods and fled from the spot by taking advantage of darkness and dense bamboo bushes. Jawans thoroughly searched the area and said items were recovered from the spot.
In other incidents, troops of Border Out Post Kalupota-1, 153 Battalion, Border Out post Pipli, 158 Battalion, Border Out Post Lodhia, 70 Battalion and Border Out Post Sirsi, 44 Battalion seized a total of 794 bottles of phensedyl from different places on the Border. The estimated value of seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs.1,68,148/-.
The seized goods were handed over to Police Station Hugalberia, Custom Office Ghojadanga, Police Station Gaighata, Kaliachak and Habibpur respectively for further legal action.
Spokesperson of South Bengal Frontier expressing his happiness over the achievement of the BSF jawans stated that this displays the vigilance of BSF jawans on duty. He urged the border people not to indulge in smuggling activities under any circumstances. BSF jawans will not allow smuggling or any other kind of crime to take place on the border under any circumstances and no one will be spared if found involved in smuggling or trans border crimes.
