Various battalions under the South Bengal Frontier organized these programs on February 24, 2023. The Border Out Post Pargumti, 118 Battalion, organized a Civic Action Program in its area of responsibility. Stationery, sports goods, and school uniforms were distributed to approximately 100 children from different schools of border villages, namely Govindkathi, Gumti, Pargumti, and Mistripara. Additionally, clothes, electrical items, and essential items were distributed free of cost to about 50 poor people living in the border area.
Another civic action program was organized in the area of Anuradhapur, the Border Out Post of 44 Battalion, deployed under Sector HQrs Malda. The program benefited the people of nearby villages, namely Tetulpada, Banpur, Anuradhapur, Kalaibari, Sirsi, Tilasan, Jotkavir, and Shrirampur. Necessary items worth about Rs 1,97,790/- were distributed to the villagers by the Border Security Force in the border area, including bio- toilets, wheelchairs for the disabled, and sports material for the youth.
The BSF also distributed household items to 108 needy villagers living on the border in the Sector HQrs Berhampur area. Meanwhile, troops of Border Out Post Mamabhagina, 68 Battalion, distributed stationery, sports and table chairs to the school students, agricultural equipment to the villagers, sports equipment to the youth club, and wheelchairs to the handicapped, among other things. Approximately 420 people from different villages attended this program.
The BSF’s efforts to help the border population were appreciated by the people of the area. They have urged the officials to conduct such programs in the future as well.
The spokesperson of the South Bengal Frontier stated that the BSF is fully committed to stopping any kind of crime on the border, despite the challenges. The BSF stands on the border in storm and rain to protect the country and organizes such events from time to time for the welfare of border residents.
