On March 26, 2023, at around 2045 hours, a fire broke out from the kitchen at the house of Sohail Mandal, S/o- Kalu Mandal, Village- Sarkarpara, under the Border Out Post Madhubana, 141 Battalion, under the South Bengal frontier and the fire took a gigantic form. When the troops of Border Out Post Madhubana heard the news, they immediately ran towards Sohail Mandal’s house with fire extinguisher and other fire fighting items. The jawans managed to control the fire after a long struggle, but by then it was too late. Sohail Mandal’s house and the goods kept in it were burnt and in this incident 5 goats of Sohail Mandal were also burnt. Fortunately, no human life was harmed in this incident.

*Villagers expressed gratitude towards BSF*
The villagers expressed their gratitude to the BSF and said that the fire had taken a formidable form and many more houses would have been gutted, if the BSF had not come at the right time.

In another incident, on the same day at about 1345 hrs, a fire broke out in a cattle trench dug along the Border fencing and in no time it spread to the nearby crops of farmers. When this news was received by the jawans of Border Out Post Sagarpara, 141 Battalion, they immediately ran towards the spot alongwith fire fighting items. The jawans managed to control the fire after a long struggle. There was no loss of life or property in this incident.

The Commanding Officer of 141 Battalion expressed happiness over this commendable work of the jawans and stated that along with curbing the crimes on the border, the BSF always remains available for those residing on border in time of their happiness and sorrow, due to which a healthy and cordial relationship develops between the BSF and Border residents.
