Indian Chamber of Commerce appointed Dr. Joel Ruet as its representative in France

*Indian Chamber of CThe Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has appointed Dr. Joel Ruet, a distinguished economist and strategic advisor, as its Chief Representative for France, marking ICC’s strategic move to enhance economic ties with the largest nation in Western Europe.

The ICC’s expansion in France aims to foster stronger economic collaboration between India and France. India and France share strong business ties, encompassing sectors such as aerospace, defence, technology, and renewable energy. Bilateral agreements, investment flows, and cultural exchanges enhance collaboration, fostering innovation and economic growth for both nations. The robust economic ties between the two countries have set the stage for significant bilateral trade growth in the coming years. With Dr. Joel Ruet ‘s leadership, ICC anticipates achieving innovative growth and shared prosperity.

Dr. Joël Ruet is a Innovation Faculty at Ecole Polytechnique in France and Senior Adviser to the “Technology for Change” Chair. He lived in Cairo, New Delhi, London, Beijing, Dakar and advised Governments of France, China, India & a couple of dozen Governments in Africa, Central Asia, Americas. He also advises Fortune 500 companies, and Funds in renewable energy, hydrogen & nuclear, automotive, agriculture, mining industries, strategic materials for cleantechs. In his new role, Dr. Joel Ruet is expected to engage with Corporations, Government agencies and industry organisations to boost trade and investment between India and France.

France’s Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in India has witnessed significant growth, particularly in sectors like technology, manufacturing, and renewable energy. This collaboration holds immense potential for both nations, fostering innovation, job creation, and contributing to the overall economic development of India. France stands as the 11th largest investor in India, having infused $10.5 billion in FDI from April 2000 to March 2023. This economic collaboration has forged connections between French enterprises and the Indian market, playing a pivotal role in India’s pursuit of self-reliance ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’.

Ameya Prabhu, President of ICC, expressed delight in the appointment, stating, “We are happy to have Dr. Joel Ruet as ICC’s Chief Representative for France. His extensive experience and pivotal role in building economic ties between India and France make him an invaluable leader. Under his leadership, we look forward to catalysing robust partnerships and bilateral investment, propelling India-France trade beyond the USD 13 billion milestone in the coming years. I am confident that through his capable leadership and advisory, ICC will help to promote two-way investments between both countries.”
