The Border Security Force troops apprehended a smuggler by confiscating 625 banned cough syrup Phensedyl from the area of Border Out Post Nimita, Adhoc-1 Battalion posted along the International Border in Murshidabad district. Total cost of confiscated Phensedyl is Rs. 1,28,318.
On May 22, 2022, at 1830 Pm, the Intelligence Department got the input that some smugglers were trying to smuggle a large consignment of Phensedyl in Basudebpur village of the Border Out Post Neemita area. As soon as the information was received, the Company Commander of the Border Out Post Nimatita formed a Patrol Party and attacked the smugglers. On seeing the BSF party, the smugglers tried to run away but the BSF Party apprehended a smuggler. From whom 625 Phensedyl bottles were recovered. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Saddam Hussain, S/o- Manarul Islam, Village Sobhpur, Post- Daulatpur, Police Station- Shamsherganj, District- Malda.
During interrogation, the smuggler revealed that he had taken this consignment of Phensedyl from Anikul Sheikh and further it was to be handed over to a smuggler named Muku. Then Muku has to send the items to Bangladesh through smuggling with the help of Mohibur and Johirul.
H S Bedi, Commanding Officer, strongly stated that the smugglers in the International Border Area should give up their intention to act like this. They will not allow any kind of smuggling from their area. Bedi also added that their jawans are ready to fight the smugglers in all kinds of situations.
